FIRST EUCHARIST PROGRAM 2026
Dear Parents,

The application for first Holy Communion in 2026 is now online. To be eligible to apply, your child needs to be baptised and have made their First Reconciliation. If you were part of the First Reconciliation program in 2025 we do not need to receive a copy of the Baptism or Reconciliation Certificate. Otherwise, we will need proof of your child’s reception of these sacraments.

First Holy Communion is considered one of the holiest and most important occasions in a Roman Catholic person's life. It is the first time that a person receives Jesus into their heart. In the simplest terms, First Holy Communion is a religious ceremony performed in church during the Mass when a child is old enough to know and understand that they are receiving Jesus into their hearts. They need to accept that they will receive the Blessed Sacrament also known as the Eucharist in the form of Bread which we call Holy Communion. They affirm that they believe that they are receiving the Body of Christ by answering “Amen” when the priest gives them the Eucharist.

You will be expected to attend a series of preparation lessons to prepare your child for this very special Gift from God. Moreover, participating in the Sacramental Program is a serious commitment on behalf of everyone participating. It is something very sacred to our faith and we treat it as such. If you cannot commit to the duration of the program, we understand if you wish to hold off to a future date.

It is also assumed that during participation in the Sacramental Program, that the participant and their family will also be joining us on our Sunday liturgies as it is a Holy Day of Ogligation for Catholics to attend Sunday Mass.
