SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION 2025

Confirmation is a Sacrament in which we receive the Holy Spirit in a special way.  After someone receives, Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation, they are fully initiated into the Church.

 

The Sacrament of Confirmation confers special graces of the Holy Spirit upon the person who receives this sacrament, just as such graces were granted to the apostles at Pentecost.  Like Baptism, Confirmation can only be received once.  Confirmation increases and deepens the graces granted at Baptism. Confirmation unites us more firmly to Christ and renders our bond with the Church more perfect.  It gives us a special strength of the Holy Spirit to spread and defend our faith.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The children in our Parish will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation during the month of August this year. Applications for Confirmation are now ready to be filled out online.  Children in Years 5 or higher who have received their First Holy Communion are eligible to apply. All areas of the application must be completed before we can accept the application.  Baptism and Holy Communion certificates need to be attached unless your child received these sacraments at Mary Immaculate Parish. Donations can also be made online with the application. If you are unable to donate online, then you can come to the parish office during office hours which are Tuesday to Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM.  If anyone is experiencing hardship, please contact Fr Oliver Aro.  If your child has already received the Sacrament of Confirmation when they were baptised, they are not eligible to receive this sacrament again.

Please note that participating in the Sacramental Program is a serious commitment on behalf of everyone participating. It is something very sacred to our faith and we treat it as such. If you cannot commit to the duration of the program, we understand if you wish to hold off to a future date. 

 

The dates for the lessons and reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation are as follows:

 

Lessons take place on the: 

                                                   28th of July from 6:30pm - 8pm

                                                     4th of August from 6:30pm - 8pm

                                                   11th of August from 6:30pm - 8pm

Rehersals take place on the:

                                                   18th of August Group 1 from 6:30pm - 7:30pm

                                                   25th of August Group 2 from 6:30pm - 7:30pm

​

Reception of Communion will take place on

                                                    21st of August Group 1 at 6:30pm

                                                    28th of August Group 2 at 6:30pm

 

It is also assumed that during participation in the Sacramental Program, that the participant and their family will also be joining us on our Sunday liturgies as it is a Holy Day of Ogligation for Catholics to attend Sunday Mass.

High school students will receive Confirmation on the same dates as the younger children, but they will have separate lessons.  However, High school students will need to fill out the application as it is the same application for all students.
