Sacrament of Confirmation 2023

Confirmation is a Sacrament in which we receive the Holy Spirit in a special way.  After someone receives, Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation, they are fully initiated into the Church.

 

The Sacrament of Confirmation confers special graces of the Holy Spirit upon the person who receives this sacrament, just as such graces were granted to the apostles at Pentecost.  Like Baptism, Confirmation can only be received once.  Confirmation increases and deepens the graces granted at Baptism. Confirmation unites us more firmly to Christ and renders our bond with the Church more perfect.  It gives us a special strength of the Holy Spirit to spread and defend our faith.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The children in our Parish will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on 31 August or 14 September 2023 at 6:30 PM Applications for Confirmation are now ready to be filled out online.  Children in Years 5 or higher who have received their First Holy Communion are eligible to apply.  All applications are due by 30 June 2023.  We cannot accept late applications.  All areas of the application must be completed before we can accept the application.  Baptism and Holy Communion certificates need to be attached unless your child received these sacraments at Mary Immaculate Parish. Donations can also be done online with the application. If you are unable to donate online, then you can come to the parish office during office which are Tuesday to Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM.  If anyone is experiencing hardship, please contact Sister Valerie.  If your child has already received the Sacrament of Confirmation when they were baptised, they are not eligible to receive this sacrament again.  After you have applied, you will receive information about who can be a sponsor and the details about choosing a Confirmation name.  You will also receive information on how the Program of instruction will take place.  Any questions or concerns, please contact Sister Valerie by email or phone.
