FIRST EUCHARIST PROGRAM 2023
The application for first Holy Communion in 2023 is now online. To be eligible to apply your child needs to be baptised and have made their First Reconciliation. If you were part of the First Reconciliation program in 2022 then we do not need to receive a copy of the Baptism or Reconciliation Certificate. Otherwise, we will need proof of your child’s reception of these sacraments.
First Holy Communion is considered one of the holiest and most important occasions in a Roman Catholic person's life. It is the first time that a person receives Jesus into their heart. In the simplest terms, First Holy Communion is a religious ceremony performed in church during the Mass when a child is old enough to know and understand that they are receiving Jesus into their hearts. They need to accept that they will receive the Blessed Sacrament also known as the Eucharist in the form of Bread which we call Holy Communion. They affirm that they believe that they are receiving the Body of Christ by answering “Amen” when the priest gives them the Eucharist.
You will be expected to attend a series of preparation lessons during the month of March and April to prepare your child for this very special Gift from God.
First Holy Communion will take place on 5 or 6 Sundays during the months of May and June.
Preparation lessons will take place in March and April 2023. We cannot accept any application after 28 February 2023.
Frequent information will be sent to you once you apply. Applications need to be complete before they are accepted.
